For students, looking the part is very important. After all, you don’t want to roam around a campus looking like a scally, or something below your best. It would be wrong to say that people would judge you on your style, but your clothes can certainly tell your fellow students a lot about the way you carry yourself, whether it be high-maintenance with designer labels or being laid-back with an emphasis on comfort.

The Student Review is looking to see what clothes the students of today are rockin’, and for this edition we speak to Charlotte Mitchell to see which brand labels define her own style!

“My wardrobe has a few recurring brand names. I often shop at River Island, Topshop and a couple of other places at Liverpool ONE, as there are plenty of options and the style of clothes in those shops are suited to my fashion tastes. That being said, how the clothes look and feel are the priority for me, so it isn’t just about the brands!

The Student Review is looking to see what clothes the students of today are rockin’, and for this edition, the spotlight shines on Luke Mythen, who explains why it’s more important for him to feel good than it is to base his style on designer names:

“I tend to emphasise being smart over brand labels, and I generally prefer tighter clothing rather than loose items. It’s important to me that what I wear leaves a good impression, especially when I am in work as I will explain. Even when I am doing social things, though, I want to project an image through my clothes that I look the part!"

“A quick word of warning: in no way, shape or form do I claim to be at all stylish, fashionable or influential in my choice of appearance. Therefore, I have altered my Style Profile slightly into a detailed piece of advice for a person starting out as a young professional, and not at all advice on what types of necklines suit which body shape, what trend is in for the summer, or what colour coat brings out your eyes."

Dan: “Starting at the top, I like to wear plaid shirts, generally in black or red. I think they’re comfortable, they’re warm, and they look good too! I like those made by Criminal Damage, and you can find these shirts in Liverpool city centre at Grand Central/Quiggins. That being said, I also wear regular fitted shirts, again mainly in black for more formal occasions; TK Maxx and Next are good places for shirts like this."

More than anything, I look to emphasise comfort and affordability over brand labels, whilst ensuring that I look good at the same time."

Mark: “I try to find a balance between what looks good and what feels great. I want people to look at me and think that what I’m wearing is trendy, but at the same time I don’t want to feel uncomfortable just so that my clothes look appealing."
